The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existence.Albert Einstein

Where these two sentences appear
William Miller’s Old Man’s Advice to Youth recounts a visit to Einstein with his son Pat and William Hermanns. Published in LIFE on 2 May 1955, it starts on page 62 and continues on page 64. The two sentences here match the wording printed on page 64.
Open the digitised LIFE issue at Google Books and turn to page 64. This is a published conversation report, not an audio recording. Pat’s interest in light provides a concrete example of a question worth pursuing.
Turn curiosity into a question you can investigate
Note something you have noticed in everyday life: why a plant grows differently by the window and on a shelf, for example. Separate your observation from your first explanation. Then frame a question you could investigate through a small comparison or a reliable factual source. Record what you actually found and what remains uncertain. A result is allowed to contradict your initial explanation. The aim is to look more closely, not to produce a grand answer immediately. This exercise comes from Motivation4you, not from Miller’s report.
